From File to Finished Print 🎓
New to downloaded 3D files? Follow these steps in order. The guide takes about ten minutes to read.
Understand the File Types
Each model in the library is stored in a Google Drive folder. Inside, you may find:
Install Your Printer Software
Your printer does not print an .STL or .3MF directly. First, a slicer converts the model into layers and creates printer instructions. These options are free:
The first time you open the slicer, select your exact printer model so the correct machine settings are loaded.
Your First Print, Step by Step
- Download the .STL or .3MF from the model folder on your computer. Extract compressed .ZIP or .RAR files first.
- Open it in the slicer: drag the file into the program or use File → Open / Import. For a .3MF, choose Open Project when available.
- Choose filament: PLA is usually the easiest material for a first print.
- Check orientation: place the flattest side on the build plate. Use Lay on Face or the equivalent tool if needed.
- Supports: enable them only when a model has significant overhangs. Many articulated and sensory models are designed to print without supports.
- Slice: the software estimates print time and filament use. Enter those figures in the Calculator to estimate cost.
- Send the job to your printer using the instructions in Step 4.
- Watch the first layer. Good bed adhesion makes the rest of the print much more likely to succeed.
Send the Job to Your Printer
Bambu Lab (A1, A1 mini, P1S, X1)
- In Bambu Studio, sign in with the same Bambu account used by your printer.
- Choose Slice Plate, review the preview, then select Print Plate to send the job over the network.
- Without Wi-Fi, export the sliced G-code to a microSD card and insert it into the printer.
- With an AMS, assign the desired filament to each color before printing.
Creality (Ender, K1, K2, Hi)
- In Creality Print, select your printer model, slice the file and choose Print.
- For K1, K2 and Wi-Fi-enabled models, send the job over the local network.
- For Ender and other offline models, export G-code to an SD card or USB drive, then select the file on the printer.
- Creality Cloud: .STL files are often the most reliable. If a .3MF imports with missing parts, try opening it in desktop slicing software.
Other Brands (Elegoo, Anycubic, Prusa, Sovol...)
- In OrcaSlicer or your manufacturer’s software, select your exact printer model.
- Slice the model and choose Export G-code.
- Save it to an SD card or USB drive, insert it into the printer and select the file on the screen.
Multi-Part and Multi-Color Models
Many models, including holiday characters, come in multiple parts that you assemble or glue after printing.
- Build plates: a .3MF project may divide parts across Plate 1, Plate 2 and so on. Check every plate before printing.
- Object list: use the slicer’s object panel to confirm that every part was imported.
- Single-color printer: group and print parts by color, then press-fit or glue them together.
- Multi-color system such as Bambu AMS or Creality CFS: assign a filament color to each part before slicing.
- Assembly: cyanoacrylate super glue generally works well for joining PLA parts.
Safe Starter Settings
Your slicer’s standard profile is usually a good starting point. For a typical PLA print:
Quick Troubleshooting
Beginner Glossary
- Slicer
- Software that converts a 3D model into layers and printer instructions.
- Slice
- To calculate layers, print time and filament use from a 3D model.
- G-code
- The final machine-instruction file understood by the printer.
- Build Plate
- Each virtual print bed inside a project, especially a .3MF.
- Support
- A temporary structure that holds overhanging areas during printing and is removed afterward.
- Infill
- The internal structure of a print. More infill can increase strength, material use and print time.
- Brim
- A thin outline attached to the first layer that can improve bed adhesion.
- Print-in-Place
- An articulated model designed to come off the printer already assembled.

Welcome to Atelier 3D 👋
A one-minute overview of exactly what is included.
What Is Atelier 3D?
Atelier 3D is a library of ready-to-use STL files organized by category. We did not create the models. We collected existing files—many from open repositories such as MakerWorld, Printables and Thingiverse—and handled the time-consuming work of finding, sorting and organizing them into folders so you can get straight to printing.
✅ What You Receive
- Thousands of files ready to slice
- Everything organized by folder and category
- Christmas models collected in one folder
- A cost calculator and sales dashboard
- Resources for pricing, product photos and selling
❌ What It Is Not
- These are not new or original models created by us
- This is not an exclusive release of unique products
- The same model may be available on other websites
💡 Why It Helps
- Save hours of searching for models one at a time
- Find everything in one place, organized by category
- Use practical tools to estimate prices and track sales
How Much Time This Can Save
Finding, downloading, testing and organizing this many files on your own can take weeks of research across multiple websites. Here, each category is already grouped for you. You also get tools those repositories do not provide: a product profit calculator, Christmas production calendar, a list of 30 products with suggested pricing and a sales dashboard.
Do This Within the Next 24 Hours
- Open Christmas and choose three small products, such as an ornament, star or tree decoration.
- Print the first one, then enter its weight and print time in the Calculator.
- Use the Product Photo Guide, then post your photo on Instagram, Facebook Marketplace or Etsy.
The best way to get value from the library is to print and publish your first product quickly. Progress comes from making, testing and listing products—not just browsing folders.
